Voting for Candidates for Ruling Elder
John Calvin wrote that "The highest honor in the church is not government but service".
As a member of The Vine Presbyterian Church, you are invited to vote on the slate of candidates for Ruling Elder. The vote is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
The list of candidates is below. At the Congregational Meeting, you will receive a ballot with the four names, and you will be invited to mark “Yes / No / Abstain” for each one. Between now and then, we encourage you to consider each of these candidates alongside the qualifications for elder taught in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Ask the Lord for a discerning spirit, and ask for His name to be honoured by those who will serve as elders.

Only the congregation-approved candidates will be ordained and installed as ruling elders on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
At the ordination service, Rev. Moses Lee will lead the proceedings. After the candidates take ordination vows, he will ask this question to the congregation:
Do you, the members of this church, acknowledge and receive these brothers as ruling elders, and do you promise to yield them all that honor, encouragement and obedience in the Lord to which their office, according to the Word of God and the Constitution of this Church, entitles them?
This is no small question, as it contains the word “obedience.” We desire this to be a glad moment for our church, and not one full of trepidation or awkwardness. So we invite you to watch this video on what it means (and does not mean) to submit to church leadership. It is a reflection based on Mark 10:35-45.
